CARING FOR PETS ACROSS WAKEFIELD AND LEEDS
Ardsley Vets Your Local, Independent Family Vets
Caring for pets across Wakefield & Leeds with knowledge and compassion.
Ardsley Vets is an independent veterinary practice in the heart of East Ardsley, Wakefield, founded by husband-and-wife team Nuno and Maria, together with their friend and colleague Natalia.
We created Ardsley Vets with a simple vision: to build the kind of practice we would want for our own pets—a place where every animal receives exceptional medical care, every client feels listened to, and every visit is as calm and welcoming as possible.
Being independent means we can put pets before targets and relationships before numbers. We take the time to get to know you and your pet, offering honest advice, personalised care, and continuity from a team you’ll recognise and trust.
From the moment we opened our doors, the local community has welcomed us with incredible support. We are proud to have become a trusted part of the community, building lasting relationships with families who rely on us to keep their pets healthy, happy, and by their side for many years to come.
Whether you’re visiting us for a routine health check, a complex medical problem, or simply some friendly advice, you’ll always find a caring team that treats your pets as if they were our own.

The People Behind Your Pet’s Care
Meet The Ardsley Vets Team
Maria
Owner/Veterinary Surgeon
DVM, CertAVP, MRCVS
Maria graduated in 2017 from Italy and achieved her RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP) in 2022 from the University of Liverpool, focusing on internal medicine and emergency care. She also has an interest in soft tissue surgery and imaging. Her passion for medicine and animals fueled her journey to become a veterinary surgeon. Dedicated to providing the best care for each of her patients, she spent years offering her services in various general practice and emergency settings. This experience inspired her to take the next step and open her own practice, aiming to create a welcoming environment for staff, clients and their pets.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, her three cats—affectionately called the “Meowsketeers”—and her dog, Neli, who serves as the practice’s mascot. Outside her professional life, Maria loves immersing herself in fantasy books, whether through reading, listening on Audible, or writing her own stories.
Nuno
Owner/Veterinary Surgeon
DVM, CertAVP(VC), CertAVP(VDI), PGCertVPS, MRCVS
Nuno graduated in Portugal in 2007 and spent seven years working in practice there before moving to the UK in search of new opportunities and experiences. After gaining valuable experience in a variety of veterinary practices, he fulfilled his ambition of establishing his own practice, where he could provide the highest standard of care for pets and their families.
Nuno is passionate about veterinary medicine and has a particular interest in complex medical cases and diagnostic imaging, especially ultrasonography. He is committed to continually developing his knowledge and skills, achieving the RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP) in 2017, the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (CertVDI) in 2018, and the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Cardiology (CertVC) in 2020.
Outside of work, Nuno enjoys spending quality time with his family and their beloved dog, Neli. He also enjoys keeping active through gym sessions and trekking, as well as relaxing in the garden whenever he gets the chance.
Natalia
Owner/Veterinary Surgeon
DVM, PgCertSADI, MRCVS
Natalia graduated as a veterinary surgeon in Poland in 2013 before undertaking further clinical training at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna. Since moving to the UK in 2016, she has worked in a variety of first-opinion practices and busy veterinary hospitals, developing extensive experience across all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery. In 2025, Natalia completed the BSAVA Certificate in Small Animal Diagnostic Imaging through Nottingham Trent University. She has a particular passion for ultrasonography, surgery and emergency and critical care. Natalia also has a keen interest in dentistry and performs all dental procedures at Ardsley Vets, helping pets maintain healthy, pain-free mouths. Known for her calm, caring approach, Natalia is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care and enjoys building lasting relationships with both pets and their owners.
Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, scuba diving, cooking and spending time with her rescue cat, Ahmed.
Julie
Registered Veterinary Nurse
CertVN (exotics), RVN
Julie became a registered veterinary nurse in 2016 and holds a certificate in nursing exotic animals, including rabbits and guinea pigs. She enjoys all aspects of nursing but has a particular passion for the medical side of veterinary care and diagnostic imaging.
Outside of work, she loves spending time on outings and walks with friends, family, and her dog, as well as exploring new places. At home, she enjoys unwinding with a good book or cozying up in front of a film.
Becky
Receptionist
Becky has worked with horses all her life, and has recently taken the exciting leap into working with small pets. She loves getting to know the clients and their animals, building bonds, and being part of their journeys as they grow.
In her spare time, Becky enjoys horse riding, spending time with her family, and taking trips to the coast.
Amy

Amy is a City and Guilds, Level 3 Qualified Dog Groomer with over 5 years experience in the industry. She has a genuine passion for animal care and has experience working with a wide range of breeds, coat types, and temperaments.
